Interventional MRI: the future

Several events in past weeks demonstrated that MRI is both a new kid on the block as well as serious party for the future. During PICS in Boston (September 13th 2020) dr Alain Nugent (Chicago, Lurie’s Children’s) stated that in 20 years MRI is the standard in the cathlab. The comparison he made was with the Iphone: nobody had one until 15 years ago! His arguments were clear and concerned the absence of radiation, visibility of the target tissue and superior flow measurement by MRI. Early October 2020 during ESMRMB Daniel Hoinkiss received a certificate of Merit award for his poster presentation  which originated from our Eurostars-SPECTRE and used animal data generated in Dallas Children’s by dr Suren Reddy and his team. Even in difficult pandemic times progress is made in our interventional dream.
